State of California $500 million Small Business Covid-19 Relief Grant - File by January 13!

New dates and deadlines:

•Start a new application –December 30th, 2020 –closes January 13th, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.

•Update and upload documents for in-process applications –January 6th, 2021 –January 13th, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.

The new closing date for Round 1 is January 13th, 2021 at 11:59 pm.

As a reminder, this is not a first-come, first-serve application process or rolling approval process -all eligible applicants will be considered for the grant at the close of Round 1 on January 13th, 2021 at 11:59 pm and not before.

California recently announced a $500 million Small Business Covid-19 Relief Grant program for eligible small business owners and nonprofits who have been impacted by COVID-19 and the health and safety restrictions. Grants up to $25,000 will be given to eligible small businesses and nonprofits to help cover expenses during the pandemic.

The new website,, is now live!  Visit to review your eligibility, prepare your business documents and get ready to apply.  Applications for Round 1 will open on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020, and close end of day on Friday, January 8th. Round 2 will be announced in the near future.


The program is administered by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) and disbursed through Lendistry, a Community Development Financial Institution serving as the Intermediary. I’m reaching out to encourage you to apply for a grant if you are in need and to offer you assistance in applying for the grant through a network of partners.

Applicants will need a few documents to apply, including a government-issued ID, most recent tax return/Form 990 filed, and business certification documentation. Applicants will be evaluated to determine grant approvals based on eligibility and pre-determined COVID-19 impact factors will be incorporated into the program’s priority criteria.
